This is Omran today.
The Syrian child became a symbol of the war after he was injured in an airstrike.
Omran’s father Mohamad Kheir –“ The next day they asked me for an interview on phone or to talk against the Syrian army. We didn’t want to talk or know the source of the airstrike or anything. The Syrian army doesn’t target civilian areas.”
Omran made first appearance on Syrian state TV. His father spoke in support of the government and accused opposition fighters of using Omran for propaganda.
Omran’s father Mohamad Kheir-“ They tried a lot to lure (me) with requests to pay take me to another country.” Omran’s family now lives in a govt-controlled area. That’s led some to wonder if they’re speaking freely, including the photographer of this iconic image.
Zinki terrorist supporter Mahmoud Raslan who is the photographer of Omran’s image said–“Omarn and his family are under house arrest in Aleppo.”
The Syrian Institute, an independent research group said-“ it is likely that the statement was coerced.“
