Robert De Niro has given two thumbs down to the state of the country.Speaking to a class of Brown University graduates Sunday, Niro lamented that “in movie terms,” the U.S. was once “an inspiring uplifting drama” but has now turned into “a tragic dumbass comedy,” according to the Associated Press.
The day before the commencement ceremony, the 73-year-old actor also called the current political climate “nightmarish” and referred to President Trump as an “idiot.”
Robert Anthony De Niro is an American actor, producer and director.He has both Italian and American citizenship. He received an honorary doctorate of fine arts from the IVY League School, urged the graduates to “work to stop the insanity” and to strive to make the world a better place.
He received the AFI Life Achievement Award in 2003, the Golden Globe Cecil B. DeMille Award in 2010, and the Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Barack Obama in 2016.
